All About Us

Rhonda Ladner May 31, 2022

We love to talk about our dogs and that is a lot about us. I currently live in south Mississippi near Hattiesburg. Been an owner of Boston Terriers since 2003 and breeding them since 2009. I cannot imagine life without one of these loving beautiful souls that I consider to be My Best Friends!!!!!

Frodee – My very first Boston Terrier!

Frodee

THE ROUND BALL OF BRINDLED FUR!!! In the year 2003, late spring I was on my way to the Okatoma River to spend a weekend with my children and grand children as I had rented a cabin for us. We all enjoyed grilling out and rolling down the river water falls in fun-yaks. I stopped at a Walmart shopping center along the way to buy sunscreen and other items we would need for our outing. As I pulled into the parking lot, there was a lady in a pick up truck next to me sitting on her tail gait. As I was going past her, she held out her hand with a fuzzy brindled ball. To my surprise she was offering it to me for a lowered price of $250. I had no clue what a Boston Terrier cost. A BOSTON TERRIER PUPPY!!!. I told her I thought they were so cute but I was not in the market for a puppy and I had never owned a Boston Terrier but I love dogs.

She shared with me that she had lowered the price because she only had the two left and they wanted to go on vacation. It was so tiny. I told her that I was not in a hurry so go ahead and sell them while I am in the store……….but……..that if the little brindled fur ball was still available when I return that I would buy it from her lols. Upon my return she was sitting there smiling and held out the fur ball for me to take. I wrote her a check and she gave me his AKC (American Kennel Club) registration papers and some food she’d been giving him. He was a super cute fat little puppy and boy were my kiddos going to be surprised to meet our new family member.

Frodee my Boston Terrier and Pepe African Gray meeting each other for the first time.

Looking back, knowing now what I know I am pretty sure that lady sold him to use at around 5 weeks of age.  He barely moved about and was slow eating and we had to nudge hm to eat.My daughter Laura was still in high school and lived with me and of course we thought to call me Froto after the famous hobbit that we both adored. As the days passed and his little personality comes to life, we decided his real name was Frodee lols. He was whimsical and funny and full of life. Oh my gosh he was a furry piranha and growing like super fast! He had no one but us to practice alpha competition with and it was not very pleasant for us lols. Eventually he ‘got it’ on the discipline but there was much much more for that puppy to learn………and us too lols.

TAILS, NOPE I MEAN TALES!!!! As Frodee grew we quickly learned the rambunctious and intelligent nature of this breed. I learned that he could not be trusted left sleeping on the sofa while I run a few errands…..only to return home and find that he discovered my house plants and attacked and uprooted and shred everyone and scattered the potting soil all over the house….yup!

Frodee growing up and always on the lookout for an adventure.

Despite his faults we could not help but love him to the moon and back. Everyone that met him fell in love with him. One of my friends that baby sat him for a weekend once greeted me at the door when i arrived to pick him up to go home, told me this……..” I know now for a fact that God does indeed have a sense of humor!” He was chuckling and then commented as he pointed toward Mr. Frodee, “I know it now simply because he designed this silly dog called Frodee!!!” We both laughed and laughed.

King of the Console

Frodee traveled with me all over the south and became King of the Console! He loved going on trips both long and short. He was always my pet and lived to be 11 years of age and passed away from an in-operable brain tumor. I have his ashes to this day in an urn on the mantle. I hope to put some of them into acrylic paint and paint his whimsical portrait on canvas one day and take the remaining ashes back to Forsyth Park in Savannah GA where he loved to walk.

This is obviously where it all began for me to have a best friend in this wonderful breed, the Boston Terrier. In more pages in the links above we will share with you information about our breeding program and our dogs. Stay tuned…………
