Rhondana Ladner – May 30, 2022
There are a lot of responsibilities involved in breeding and raising puppies. I think that every breeder should always be in consideration of their purpose for breeding as well as for placements and keeping puppies. I am always in consideration that improvements can be made so this means this page will be updated off and one.
This page is used to present to you a general over view of our program with some detail. There will be more details available per topic throughout our website as we present our precious Boston Terriers to you.
BECAUSE WE LOVE THEM
When we began many years ago, we were simply inspired to breed Boston Terriers because we love them and felt like everyone should have one. While we still feel that way, we have a couple of milestones behind us. First in that we learned what the American Kennel Club considers to be AKC Standard Boston Terrier Breed. With this we began to strive for high quality lines for conformation and took interest in showing this breed in sanctioned AKC dog shows.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
It was not easy acquiring a show quality potential in the beginning and was turned down by several show breeders which I was long time fans of. Due to our earlier breeding of some Boston Terriers that were not show potential caused us some grief with these breeders. Finally I met a lady Judy Thomas of JohnLee Boston Terriers in Cullman, Alabama who showed and raised what I considered the most beautiful Boston Terriers I had ever seen. She placed a super cute little small boy which I named Beaux who would become my very first little Champion. Her lines were pedigreed from TBo and Kennedy lines but I most especially loved her small Bostons. I was also very grateful that she trusted me with her puppy to a good life and a Champion title.
I acquired some nice lines from Arcadians Dream Kennels and was show mentored by Rhonda Foles. I am to this day very grateful for all she has taught me about showing and what to look for in conformation of this breed. Of course her sharing her beautiful Boston Terriers with me has definitely been a big blessing ensuring fine quality foundation dogs.
I also acquired a super nice girl to which I named Sweet Bee in coordination with her sire Bumble owned by Tina Star of Louisiana. With this I was required to use Tina Star as the handler of Sweet Bee showing her to her Champion Title. I very much love this Boston Terrier and she truly lives up to her name. Her sire Bumble was special in show and made it to #2 Boston Terrier in America.
Other nice Boston Terriers I have used in my program are a darling champion lined boy we call Waylon which comes from Bewitched Boston Terriers in Rosinki Texas; the late Champion Ryan who came to use from Kigers Boston Terriers.
I’m very happy to also include that I’ve made a few accomplishments with my own breedings in having produced some champions sired by my CH Beaux and CH Sweet Bee. Many thanks to professional handler Hiram Stewart of Louisiana who helped them achieve their titles.

LINE BREEDING
All of the above mentioned lines have been organized and used in our breeding program to date. Our efforts have been truly blessed in each of the cross breedings we’ve done. We have produced our own champions and have new puppies we are holding back as our next show potentials.
I am at the place with my program now that I can pretty much know what to expect from breedings. I have set up a super nice line breeding program that will help me hang onto the very best quality and features that I have valued in my early foundation dogs. I owe a great deal of thanks to my late dad L.H. Ladner for his sharing this valuable breeding knowledge with me. I truly considered him to be a Master Breeder and regret we were never able to get all of his knowledge documented into a publication as we had discussed many times.
PRESERVE THE BOSTON TERRIER BREED
My goal and effort at this time is to purposely breed top quality Boston Terriers which demonstrate the AKC standard expectations in the Gentleman Breed. I consider myself to be a preservation breeder and pleased of what we do for the next generation of happy, healthy Boston Terrier canine families. It’s not as easy as it may seem either as there are so many points of interest in the desired conformation of the Boston Terrier, along with the markings and temperament. Breeding out faults is always a work in process.
HEALTH
Our foundation dogs are tested to be found free and clear of Juvenile Hereditary Cataracts. They are also pre-examined by our veterinarian to be found with healthy patellas. They also have open nares with no breathing problems. This said, what is generally the condition of the parents will be the conditions of the off spring. We guarantee all of our puppies to be free and clear of any life threatening congenital health issues. See more details for this on our Puppy Contract.
TEMPERAMENT
Our Boston Terrier lines present excellent temperament with very sweet and loving disposition toward their humans and other pets. They strive to be in the best graces with their humans and sincerely love them. They are also fun loving and enjoy playing, swimming and chasing water sprinklers and balls. Our lines make the best snugglers when it’s sleepy time and they will very much enjoy sharing your popcorn snuggled up for a good movie.
OFF THE BEATEN PATH
SURPRISE!!! Not so long ago, one of my Champion lined girls, Miss Goldie (Sweet Bee daughter) was at the vet for a c-section to have her very first litter born. When the vet tech called to tell me that mom and pups were doing great and ready to come home, the vet tech gave me a hint that something was a bit different from any other puppies they had delivered. All she could say was there were two boys born. Being that Miss Goldie is considered a desired foundation Boston Terrier in our lines, I was a bit concerned. With this I dashed to vet straight away.
To my shock and surprise one of the boys was off white colored. His entire body was that color and there was no evidence of a tuxedo!!!!! The other boy was a gorgeous brindled with excellent tuxedo markings. Their mom Goldie is a gorgeous flashy brindled/white and their dad came from a show friend/mentor’s Grand Champion lines.
As the off white colored boy grew he began to develop a tuxedo but it was cream colored and he was turning out cream and white. In my research I discovered information about this color. I gave him to my daughter to which she named Timber. I kept the other standard boy who grew up to be most handsome and his name is Hershey. This coloration just showed up unplanned and naturally on our doorsteps and we will most likely be seeing more of the creams in a couple of future breedings.
THE FUTURE
At this point in my program I have everything I need set up for excellent line breeding to be able to preserve all that I value in my foundation dogs. I am sure that at some point in the future I will need to reach out for new male or female from other breeders, but it will be a good long while before that is needed.
I have also shared several of my dogs with my sweet daughter Laura who is enjoying breeding these lines. I am very happy to share my program with her. It will be a great thing to combine our efforts in continuing these lines for some generations to come.
